Building Personal Resilience in Turbulent Times
Our usual ways of tackling problems that lead to stress don’t work anymore. Pushing harder, working longer, and fighting to overcome are ineffective and leave you burned out. We simply don’t have the reserves to draw upon. So, we need to create them. Stress is pervasive so the solution needs to go beyond a massage and a weekend away. The solution needs to aid in forming new habits and creating space for us to care for ourselves. We need tap into and expand the well of energy, strength, and resilience that is within all of us.

In this 8-week series we explore several areas of resilience and what it means to be resilient in each. Using group discussion, inquiry, and guided exercises I help you build your resilience IQ. A hot bath, a cup of tea, a walk outside are all great ways to care for oneself. But most of us get so caught up in thoughts of the future or the past that we are not really able to enjoy the present moment. And before you’ve finished our tea your time for self-care is over leaving you feeling depleted and strained all over again. What we really need are ways to care for ourselves that don’t require making an appointment or going away somewhere. I’m talking about self-care that is done right where you stand, in the moment you need it. The kind of self-care that will have lasting effect.

This workshop introduces what I call True Self Care. I call it this because it is not something that is given to you or done for you. It is learning how to access the comfort, warmth, and ease that is available to you all the time. Basic mindfulness techniques, such as breath and body awareness are integrated throughout the course, helping you become more self-aware and more able to meet you own self-care needs. Mindfulness is practiced throughout the entire 4-week session so that when the course is completed, you’re not left empty handed waiting until you book your next pedicure. You’ll have a set of tools that you can use right away and continue to call upon when you need them. You’ll have the power to take care of you!
